Old Clay

Here is the story

of a heart-shaped vessel.

Brought to the Potter

broken and shattered.

So there there the peices lay

in the palm of the Potter’s hand.

waiting to be thrown away

useless and unwanted.

But the Potter closed His hand

bringing the pieces together.

He molded them

making the vessel new.

Out of old clay

once empty and bruised.

The Potter created a master piece

complete and beautiful.

This is the story

of a heart once deep in sin

filled with pain and misery,

Now made new through grace.

  1. Thanks, this poem was inspired by a song I heard on Sunday morning at church. It basically said that we are here because Jesus didn’t throw the clay away. It really touched me and inspired me. I’m glade you like it.

  2. Once I read this, I thought of this scripture:

Therefore if any man be in Christ, let him be a new creature. Old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new.
    (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You have a very good illustration of words with this poem.

What did you think? I'd love to hear from you!
