A Poem Remembered by Time

In my previous post I shared some links to several other blogs where I left a comment or two. One in particular was a post reviewing a coffee shop, My Dog Joe. It really is a hidden gem in Hamilton’s west end.

When I saw that the day nine assignment for Blogging 101 was to expand on one of the comments we left for the previous post, I sat there thinking about it for a while. Then it occurred to me, I once wrote a poem about My Dog Joe. So I typed the title into my search bar and there it was, a poem I posted way back in 2008.

I thought I’d share that poem with you in this post. If you want to see the original post, you can do that here!

My Dog Joe

The atmosphere is friendly
I’ve found, accented by the aroma
Of mouth watering delights.
The colors surrounding me,
I’m sure were intended
To bring me back.

I had a mango pineapple splash,
Now all that’s left is a straw
And some cubes of frozen water.

What’s in this chili?
It’s make-you-feel-at-home taste
Reminds me of my aunt.

Something hit me just now.
A thought
I think.

Why?
Why have I taken so long
to return?

Oh man, I really do need to go back one of these days. Hey Bernie, if you’re reading this, I know where I want to go next time we go for coffee.

In His love,

Margaret.
